Your Little Pirates
Face Painting
Children will be transformed into animals, monsters and butterflies before your very eyes! The face painting team are part of the Queen's Award Charity, LNBP (London Narrow Boat Project) based at Braunston.
They give their services at the show completely voluntarily with any donations for their efforts being passed onto the charity to assist them in their aim of introducing even more youngsters to the joys of canal boating
Circus and Juggling Workshops
No one is too old to have a go at the variety of colourful circus skills brought to you by ‘The Great Gappo’ circus skills workshop. Learn how to throw the diabolo and poi, spin a plate or two and try your hand at balancing tricks from this expert – and very patient - teacher. Age is no restriction and all are welcome to join in.
Bubbles and Water Fun
Make and watch beautiful, colourful bubbles of all shapes and sizes – see how big you can make your bubbles! There are interesting water experiments to try, including how to load a narrow-boat and learn how locks on the canals work. Have fun with these scientific, waterway-related activities, suitable for all ages.
Merlin’s Amazing Waterway
A huge, bright and colourful interactive collage showing the magic of nature to be found above and below the water. See how a natural waterway looks and how pollution can devastate the ecosystem and wildlife. A very positive message for children, assisted by Holly and Ivy the Eco Elves. If you can find the rat you will be rewarded with a sweet!
Storytelling – by Janul
The "Adventures of Pirate" is a series of books that take you through Pirate the narrow-boat’s life on the British canals. Find out about the waterways and what happens when Pirate goes "Through the Lock" or into the dry dock to have his rudder fixed in the story of "Pirate In The Dock". A good introduction for children who are about to experience narrow-boating for the first time – music and singing will accompany the storytelling. For more information on the books visit www.theadventuresofpirate.co.uk. Join Janul the author for performances every day at 12pm and 3pm.
DRUMMING WORKSHOPS
The workshops are brought to Crick by Kyreme Arts in Education, a local charitable organisation who promote African Arts through workshops and performances. Everyone - of all ages and abilities - is encouraged to join in, even if you have never drummed a drum before. It’s as much fun as it looks and a must-do while at Crick. They supply the drums and you supply the rhythm! (Kids@crick area)
